Carlos Zapata has a wonderful set of 8 large pieces at our latest exhibition in Granada. Entitled ‘El Teatro de los Sueños Colombianos de Carlos Zapata’ (Carlos Zapata’s Theatre of Colombian Dreams) the pieces are delightfully colourful, but also deal with the harsh realities of life in Colombia, such ‘Kidnapping Industries’ and ‘Global Village’, which shows how the third world suffers as a result of capitalism in the west.There are also surreal standing pieces, the ‘Cardinal’s Trip’ (shown here with Carlos) features a beautifully robed cleric in a boat with a cabbage, whilst ‘Hot Dreams’ has a man in a red pepper boat, accompanied by seeds which have eyes.
