We are mid way through our crowdfunder campaign to reach our new £30,000 goal to help us set up our Mechanical Making Space in Hastings. We want to send a huge thank you to the 151 supporters that have already generously donated, in the first week we made it to our first goal of £20,000, we are thrilled. The comments by the supporters are so encouraging and spur us on for the next part of the campaign.
Thank you for giving us decades of inspiration and utter joy. Our best wishes to you, for years to come!
A maker space is a wonderful idea. I wish I’d had access to one when I was a child!
All the best, CMT! You’ve inspired so many makers.
Another massive thank you to our partners and artists who have made this happen. Make sure you watch the clips below from engineer and maker Tim Hunkin, Maria and Michael Start from the House of Automata, Jess Steele CEO of Hastings Commons. Look out for new rewards including the ingenious and celebratory Party Popper Machine by Martin Smith, more of Paul Spooner’s outlandish English Spring figures and Loulou Cousin’s wacky cardboard automata. There are places on Loulou’s workshop if you want to have a go at making your own machines plus lots more gorgeous rewards.
Please keep sharing our social media posts, we need to raise as much as possible to help us get started on our first project this autumn with the A Town Explores A Book Festival. We will be running lots of school workshops exploring mechanisms inspired by this year’s book The Railway Children, and inspiring the young people with our automata.
