Who we are

We are Cabaret Mechanical Theatre, based in the UK with a collection of contemporary automata which is shown all over the world. We often run workshops alongside our exhibitions, promote making automata and run an online shop selling related items. Our website address is: cabaret.co.uk

We are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of visitors to this web site. In particular, we want you to know that we are not in the business of selling, renting or trading email lists with other companies and businesses for marketing, or any other purposes.
However, aside from using good judgement there is now a legal requirement to provide you with a detailed privacy policy so that you are clear on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it and how we keep it secure. This is that policy.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

When someone visits this website we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. Google’s privacy policy is here: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en

Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for occasional e-newsletters, we collect personal information that you have freely given us (this is limited to your name and email address). Who We Share Your Data With

Third Parties: We do not share your data with any third parties, except as stated above i.e. Aweber as our mailing list delivery service, Google analytics to figure out how clever our marketing has been and PayPal to process payments.
