SatellitesWe are continually amazed by the diversity of our readers, and it was exciting to find out that Dr John Bonnell at Space Sciences Lab, (UC Berkeley CA) has been inspiring his team with our best selling publication, Cabaret Mechanical Movement.

John and his team were responsible for all the deployables (antennae and booms) seen in this NASA video.

As John says, “I think that the mechanical aspects of the space program are under-appreciated, relative to things like electronics and the big firey rocket plumes, for example. However, those aspects are often the most visible manifestations of the thousands of person-hours that go into each of the satellites and launch vehicles that go into space, and are often the efforts that mean the difference between a successful launch and insertion into orbit, and a fireball on the ground, or a satellite that’s DOA.”

We always knew that understanding mechanics was important! Let us know how you have used the book.
